Forest (OT) – 90 years ago, the American Donald B. Watt launched an international exchange project – “The Experiment in International Living”, to promote intercultural understanding and peaceful coexistence. Today, 90 years later, the German branch of the oldest non-profit exchange organization, “Experiment – Dein Austauschorganisation”, pursues the same goals and is committed to tolerance, mutual understanding and peace. Values that should be the focus at the moment. To give more people the opportunity for this valuable intercultural exchange, the association annually offers two full scholarships (excluding flights) for three months of volunteer service in Ecuador or Mexico.
Scholarships are provided by the esteemed member of the association, Christian Wolf, and her husband, Hembert. During their lifetime, the two worked on a voluntary basis for international understanding and hosted families for a total of about 7,000 international guests. Mrs. Wolf was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit for her outstanding volunteer commitment. It has always been important to him that intercultural exchanges continue and that as many young people as possible have this valuable experience. Thanks to donations, the two volunteers now have the opportunity to make their own contributions to a more tolerant world.
Cosmopolitan, interested people between the ages of 18 and 29 who wish to volunteer for three months in Mexico or Ecuador can apply until May 20, 2022. The departure will take place between summer 2022 and spring 2023. Details of the application can be found on the association’s website https://www.experiment-ev.de/freiwilligendienst/stipendien.
