The Brandenburg State Scholarship Program for Doctors of the Future is looking for interested parties: for 35 scholarships from the summer semester, 36 registration applications from human medicine students have been accepted within the application deadline, as requested by the Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Association in Brandenburg (KVB).
“The scholarship program has established itself as a component of promoting young medical professionals in the state of Brandenburg,” said KVBB spokesman Christian Wehre. “In this round, we only had four weeks to apply. If we had more time, we would probably get more applications.” Applications should now be decided quickly.
In Brandenburg, 134 medical students are already receiving a grant used by the state to support future doctors. The program was launched in July 2019 and is open to students across the European Union. This year 35 scholarships are being offered per semester. Prospective physicians can then receive 1,000 euros per month for the standard period of study, i.e. for a maximum of 75 months. In return, Brandenburg has the obligation to work as a doctor in a rural area for at least five years after graduation.
