Registration for the LatinxEd Scholarship will be open until April 22

North Carolina, Rayleigh – In a bid to build a network of leaders who want to work for a more inclusive and equitable education system in North Carolina, the nonprofit LatinxEd has announced that registration for the Beca LatixEd initiative will remain open until April 22.

“This is a great opportunity to learn how to improve the North Carolina education system through training and equipment that allows personal leadership to expand,” he explained. Latin Link NCEliazar Posada, LatinxEd Fellowship Project Lead.

Posada indicated that at the end of the fellowship, each participant would receive a $ 1,000 stipend for their commitment and feedback.

Qualifications

Scholarship applicants must be committed to LatinxEd’s mission, vision and beliefs.

In addition, it has the following features:

  • Develop positive identities for Latino families
  • Actively work in an organization that promotes access to opportunities
  • Strategic thinker
  • Effective communicator
  • Latino or Hispanic
  • At least 20 years old
  • A resident of North Carolina
  • US citizenship is not required

For the 2022 cycle, LatinxED is selecting people living in the northeastern, mid-southern, southeastern and southwestern regions of the state.

Training plan

Through the fellowship experience, emerging Latino educational leaders will gain:

  • Professional development of skills such as media training and general strategic communication around storytelling, education governance awareness and the opportunity to learn leadership structures to help individuals and organizations adapt to challenging environments.
  • A deeper understanding of the current landscape of statewide educational initiatives centering on educational equality in North Carolina; Y.
  • A supportive community that will raise their voices on issues of Latino education that are important to them, spreading their message and working across the state.

As part of this scholarship, selected individuals will be committed

  • Join the three Scholarship Retreats and the Latin Education Summit
  • Participate in community virtual training workshops, webinars, coaching and zoom calls
  • Participate in educational discussion panels and informal cafesito events for external visitors;
  • Contribute to a video of the 2022 Scholarship Cohort about the challenges and opportunities for success of Latino students in North Carolina
  • Become an active member of the new LatinXEAD Education Leaders Network, a group of members of the LatinX community interested in participating in educational efforts at local and state level.

Personal events or interactions will follow the Covid-19 protection protocol.
